Attractions

So, what have we to offer you?......

This page aims to give you an insight as to what we have on offer on-site, and to provide links to other websites to allow you to find out more about our local area and attractions.

  • On Site:

    • Lakeside Walk: Leading away from the campsite we have a pleasant walking area where campers are free to exercise their dogs - as well as themselves! The walk takes you past our duck pond with its geese and ducks, and leads on through meadows to our fishing lake. Along the way you may see our peacocks, ponies, Shetland ponies, or any of the abundant wildlife in the area.

    • Fishing: Our fishing lake has been stocked with Rudd, Roach, Tench, Carp, Perch and several Pike. Use of the lake is free to residents, however they should ensure that they are in possession of an appropriate Environment Agency Rod Licence prior to fishing.

    • Animals: In the fields around the farm you will see our sheep, lambs and cattle. Around the farm we have chicken, ducks, geese, peacocks and pheasants. See our New!!! page.

  • In our Local Area:

    • Westham: In our small village you will find local shops catering for your immediate requirements, including a Post Office and newsagent. A public telephone box is located within a few hundred yards of the site. A fish restaurant in the village can provide you with an eat in or take away service if you don't feel like cooking after a long day on the beach or out and about. You will find several pubs within walking distance for a quiet evening drink. We are well served by public transport with Pevensey and Westham Railway Station 500 metres from the site offering direct rail links to Eastbourne, Hastings, Brighton and London. We also have a regular bus service with a stop located adjacent to the site.  You may be interested in our local church, St Mary's, the first the Norman's built.

    • Eastbourne: We are only one mile from the Eastbourne town boundary, and only four miles from the centre of this popular seaside town.  With its many attractions, you can always be assured of something to keep you entertained. Easily reached by road, rail or bus, you can be in the centre of town in minutes.

    • Pevensey Bay: About a mile away as the crow flies you will find this small seaside village. Located right on the coast you will find shops, banks, restaurants and pubs.

  • Local Attractions:

    • The Beach: We are located about a mile from the sea. The beaches in our local area are mainly pebble with groyne coastal defences.

    • Crumbles Marina and Shopping Complex: Close by, you will find the Crumbles out of town shopping and leisure complex and the Sovereign Harbour. At the Crumbles you will find all the large retail outlets as well as a six screen multiplex cinema. The Sovereign Harbour is a recent development offering sheltered water berthing for yachts and other vessels. Everything you would expect from a modern marina can be found here.

    • Sovereign Centre: Our local leisure pool offering both a conventional swimming pool and a modern leisure pool offering safe children's areas, slides and wave machines. Parents can relax around the pool while children enjoy the facilities.

    • Pevensey and Herstmonceux Castles: Within a stones throw of the site you will find historic Pevensey Castle, best known as the place where William the Conqueror landed in1066. But its history goes back much further. The Romans built a fortress here around AD 280. Its three and a half metre thick walls protected the coast for two hundred years. A ten-minute drive will find you in Herstmonceux Castle, once the home of the Royal Greenwich Observatory, now an international study centre.

    • Eastbourne Speedway: At nearby Arlington Stadium, motor sports fans will find the home of Eastbourne Eagles, the local Speedway team. The stadium is also home to mid week meetings of hot rods, stock rods and banger events.

    • Drusillas Zoo: Along the A27, at Alfriston, you will find DRUSILLAS, proclaimed the 'best small zoo in the country'.

    • Tennis: Eastbourne's Devonshire Park Tennis is synonymous with the pre Wimbledon Ladies Tennis season. With our excellent public transport links into the centre of Eastbourne, we offer the ideal base for you to attend the tournament.

    • Shopping: If shopping is your vice, then in addition to the Crumbles Shopping Complex, Eastbourne boasts extensive shopping facilities at the recently improved Arndale Centre. All the big name shops within an indoor facility with adjacent parking.

  • Further Afield:

    • Sussex Attractions: Sussex offers over 80 miles of coastline, lovely gardens and history and heritage - at least six castles, two abbeys and two priories. There are amusement parks and wildlife centres; the nostalgic, the curious and simply fun, including museums of bygones, steam railways and caves. Sussex boasts numerous theatres and arts festivals, many ancient churches and buildings plus large Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty over the South Downs and Ashdown Forest. The direct rail link from our local station will find you in the centre of London within an hour and a half, and with a regular service throughout the day you can still be back in time for tea! (Click on the link and enter Pevensey and Westham to Victoria for train journey details)

    • Europe: With the continental ferry port of Newhaven only a half hour drive away, a two hour ferry journey will find you in Dieppe, France.
